Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 in Chattanooga, TN supporting water, wastewater, and stormwater projects with Jacobs.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Work under the supervision of senior level engineers.
  • Perform a wide variety of routine assignments applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Make field trips and conduct field audits.
  • Independently evaluate the selection and/or modification of standard techniques, procedures, criteria, and systems to meet project goals efficiently.
  • Prepare planning, engineering and/or construction documents, reports, studies, and calculations.
  • Support engineers and project managers on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
  • Participate in design, coordination, and execution of projects for clients.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Enrollment in a degree-seeking program in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Previous intern experience with a consulting or engineering firm preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
  • Relevant coursework or projects related to engineering.
  • EIT certification or on track to obtain.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range of $40,000 to $60,000, paid hourly based on hours worked.
  • Salary determined by work location, skills, experience, and education.
