Join Arcadis as a Water Engineer Co-op/Intern in Columbus, OH, gaining hands-on experience in water engineering projects focused on sustainability and resilience.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating, planning, designing, and supporting management of water/wastewater/stormwater treatment and conveyance projects, including pipelines and pumping facilities.
  • Assessing, developing, and supporting sustainability and resilience projects, including vulnerability and mitigation assessments for utilities, municipalities, and cities.
  • Conducting fieldwork such as site visits, sampling, water quality analyses, technology evaluation, plant operations data gathering, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and audio-visual materials; participating in client meetings.
  • Ensuring project compliance with Arcadis practices, quality, health and safety standards; coordinating timely project completion within budget.
  • Working independently and collaboratively with team members across the U.S. and internationally.
  • Learning and using digital tools such as SharePoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Power BI, and Augmented Reality to enhance project delivery and collaboration.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Pursuing a BS in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid work ethic.
  • Initiative and ability to take on new projects and challenges regularly.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and flexible approach to balancing new challenges.
  • Solid understanding of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water, wastewater, and stormwater.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred: Prior internship or coursework in water/wastewater or related sectors.
  • Preferred: EIT certification.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly salary range: $16.50 - $35.00.
  • Benefits for part-time, as-needed positions including Employee Assistance Program (EAP), 401K, and optional wellbeing benefits.
