Join Google as a User Experience Research Intern to design and conduct user research, collaborating across teams to drive user-centric product decisions.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and conduct independent research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, engineering, and product management to ensure user-centric, data-driven decisions.
  • Effectively communicate research findings and advocate for them beyond the project team.
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments (A/B testing).

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Human Factors, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Information Science, or related field.
  • Internship, work, or project experience with research design utilizing various methods (e.g., usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys).
  • English proficiency and located in the United States for the duration of the internship.
  • Preferred: Currently attending a US degree program and available full-time for 12 weeks outside university term time.
  • Preferred: In penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after internship completion.
  • Preferred: Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of statistics and experimental design.
  • Preferred: Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • US base salary range: $86,000 - $115,000, determined by role, level, and location.
  • Salary excludes bonus, equity, or benefits.
  • Additional compensation details provided during hiring process.
