Join CDM Smith as a Transportation Engineer 1 to develop large-scale transportation projects with hybrid work options in Pennsylvania.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing large-scale projects such as highways, tunnels, mass transit, and aviation engineering designs of basic complexity under direct supervision.
  • Reviewing draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensuring firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
  • Performing site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
  • Updating design requirements as necessary.
  • Inspecting new construction and existing transportation structures as needed.
  • Contributing to the firm's technical knowledge management by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
  • Submitting technical papers and designs for publication in technical journals.
  • Creating or collaborating on presentation materials for conferences.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline (0 years experience acceptable).
  • Basic knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles of design.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% as required.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
