Join Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP as a Field Survey Technician Intern to perform instrument person duties on diverse infrastructure and land development projects.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Perform instrument person duties on a field survey crew using robotic total stations, GNSS rovers, electronic field controllers, levels, and hand tools.
- Conduct various types of surveys including topographic, control, boundary, right of way, cross-section, construction stakeout, and terrestrial scanning.
- Work on projects in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia.
- Maintain detailed field notes and sketches.
- Operate 3-D terrestrial scanner for certain surveys.
- Carry equipment and supplies over uneven terrain and navigate active project sites.
- Drive to and from project sites, sometimes exceeding 100 miles round trip.
About You
The company is looking for:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- High School Diploma or State Equivalent certification required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
- Physical ability to carry equipment, walk on rough terrain, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to accommodate occasional overnight or longer travel, typically weekly or less.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. full-time without visa sponsorship; no visa sponsorship available.
Compensation
- Hourly compensation range: $15.00 - $21.00, depending on knowledge, training, skills, location, and experience.
Training & Development
- Training opportunities to operate robotic total stations, GNSS survey equipment, Carlson Data Collector, and 3D terrestrial scanner.
- Learn to locate topographic features, maintain equipment, keep detailed notes, and perform computations.
