Join Sargent & Lundy as an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to work on nuclear facility design, analysis, and modifications within a leading nuclear engineering firm.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilize and expand academic knowledge in structural engineering for nuclear facility projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers from various disciplines on new nuclear facilities, plant betterment, and modifications.
  • Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Prepare design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using advanced computer tools.
  • Conduct structural analyses including wind and seismic loading conditions.
  • Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers.
  • Potential travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with strong academic background in materials behavior, structural analysis, steel and concrete design.
  • Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
  • Knowledge of practical structural engineering applications including load analysis and design integrity.
  • Understanding of structural engineering principles, techniques, and procedures for project design.
  • Familiarity with structural design techniques, tools, and production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Preferred but not required: ABET-accredited degree, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion and Engineer in Training designation.
  • Preferred familiarity with structural analysis software such as MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, or ANSYS.
  • Preferred knowledge of design codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, and ACI 349.

  • Salary range: $60,660.00 - $87,090.00
