Join Sargent & Lundy as an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to work on nuclear facility design, analysis, and modifications within a leading nuclear engineering firm.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilize and expand academic knowledge in structural engineering for nuclear facility projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers from various disciplines on new nuclear facilities, plant betterment, and modifications.
- Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
- Prepare design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development.
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using advanced computer tools.
- Conduct structural analyses including wind and seismic loading conditions.
- Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers.
- Potential travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.
About You
The company is looking for:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with strong academic background in materials behavior, structural analysis, steel and concrete design.
- Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
- Knowledge of practical structural engineering applications including load analysis and design integrity.
- Understanding of structural engineering principles, techniques, and procedures for project design.
- Familiarity with structural design techniques, tools, and production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Preferred but not required: ABET-accredited degree, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion and Engineer in Training designation.
- Preferred familiarity with structural analysis software such as MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, or ANSYS.
- Preferred knowledge of design codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, and ACI 349.

- Salary range: $60,660.00 - $87,090.00
