Join Johnson & Johnson as a Software Engineering Co-op to develop innovative medical device software in Cincinnati, OH for Summer 2026.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop product software integrating mechanical, electrical, and distributed computing systems.
- Develop test tools to validate product software in an integrated environment.
- Convert technical options into formal, testable written requirements.
- Document designs and specifications following design control processes and conform to IEC 62304 medical device software standards.
- Contribute to Robotics, Handheld Instruments, or Digital Products pipelines within the Ethicon business.
- Participate in rotations generally lasting 12 weeks, with increasing responsibilities over multiple rotations.
About You
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- Enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
- At least in the second year of undergraduate studies at the start of the co-op and considered a student during the co-op term.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Experience in software engineering using C, C++, and Python.
- Strong collaboration, technical leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated strong interest in healthcare.
- Preferred experience with Linux or similar OS software design, software testing tools (e.g., Google Test, NUnit, JUnit), and distributed data services (e.g., RTI Connext, OpenDDS, MQTT).
- Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employment visa sponsorship.
