Software Engineer Intern (May 2026)

Join Whatnot as a Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2026 to work on innovative live shopping platform features in a hybrid setting across major US hubs.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Work in cross-functional multidisciplinary teams during a 12-16 week hybrid internship.
• Contribute code and ideas to solve complex technical challenges and define future engineering initiatives.
• Build new features for users in live-streams.
• Implement growth tactics and strategies to scale buyer and seller flows.
• Develop systems at scale to deliver a high trust marketplace experience.
• Collaborate in-person and remotely, with flexibility to work from home or office hubs in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Individuals pursuing a degree in computer science or related major, graduating December 2026 or by Summer 2027.
• Some industry software engineering experience.
• Curiosity, intellectual motivation, and a growth mindset.
• Problem-solving skills and out-of-the-box thinking.
• Willingness to take risks and build products and systems for 1M+ users.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
• Residency within commuting distance of one of the specified office hubs.

Compensation & Benefits

• $65 per hour base pay, final rate based on level, experience, skills, and expertise.
• $150/month dogfooding budget to actively use the product.
• $150/month wifi/phone reimbursement.

Training & Development

Interns gain core industry skills in project ideation, management, and collaboration while contributing to a fast-growing marketplace.
