Join Amazon Robotics as a Robotics Systems Engineer Intern/Co-op to deploy and troubleshoot advanced robotic systems in fulfillment centers.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Oversee installation, troubleshooting, integration, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment in new and existing fulfillment centers.
- Work with a team of 1-5 engineers and collaborate with on-site project managers for technical oversight.
- Coordinate with third-party installers, contracted engineers, construction, hardware, software, IT, and other partner teams.
- Deploy robotic systems across various product life cycle phases, including developing and modifying process documentation.
- Identify and solve real-time deployment problems independently and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage project KPIs including on-time delivery, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability.
- Travel extensively across the US (75% travel) and potentially internationally; valid US driver’s license required.
- Perform quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, and monitor robotics system performance.
About You
The company is looking for candidates with:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field, with graduation between December 2026 and August 2027.
- Eligibility and availability for a full-time (40h/week) 6-month co-op.
- Strong foundational knowledge of robotics, networked mechanical systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and develop technical documentation, process instructions, technical drawings, and CAD models.
- Proficiency in standard office software tools and processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently and manage a small team during deployments.
- Experience or willingness to work primarily in construction or warehouse environments.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and data-driven decision making.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the US and potentially internationally.
Preferred qualifications include:
- 1-2 years of experience in field engineering, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environments.
- Experience with hardware integration or complex mechanical-electrical or networked industrial equipment.
- Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
- Knowledge of robot-specific systems (Fanuc, ABB), Allen Bradley PLC, and programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.
- Demonstrated ability to take independent initiative and use data to drive decisions.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay ranges from $35.63/hr to $78.37/hr depending on geographic market and candidate experience.
