Join Tesla as a Reliability Engineer Intern to analyze battery cell data and contribute to cutting-edge cell qualification techniques.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Leverage data from the cell qualification process to help design safer, lower-cost, and high-performance battery cells.
- Analyze and visualize data to identify trends and risks in cell programs.
- Create tools for rapid analysis of datasets and characterization techniques.
- Assist in designing tests and analyzing data to understand fundamental battery degradation modes.
- Collaborate with Engineering groups across various disciplines and work closely with Managers, Mentors, and team members.
About You
What you'll need:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Understanding of Design for Reliability and Design of Experiments.
- Proficient in Python data analysis and visualization.
- Proficiency in statistical modeling and scripting.
- Knowledge of DFMEA and Design for Reliability.
- Experience collaborating with design, manufacturing, and testing teams.
- Familiarity with reliability software tools and Weibull analysis.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrochemical battery cell failure modes.
- Data Science and Data Engineering skills.
- Knowledge of lithium-ion cell life modeling and electrochemical mechanisms is a plus but not required.

Training & Development
The Internship Recruiting Team provides a year-round program placing students in positions to grow technically, professionally, and personally through close work with Managers, Mentors, and teams, including involvement in critical projects.
How to Apply
Applicants must be actively enrolled in an academic program and able to work full-time (40 hours/week) on-site for a minimum of 12 weeks starting May 2026 through summer term.
