Join ABB as a Quality Engineering Summer Intern to drive safety, quality, and operational improvements onsite.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Drive site safety improvements through technology adoption, work cell redesign, ergonomic enhancements, and other innovative solutions.
- Champion world-class quality by developing clear work instructions, conducting PFMEAs, establishing FAI/inspection criteria, implementing error-proofing (poke-yoke), and managing ECNs and CAPAs.
- Increase operational capacity by identifying and executing projects that eliminate bottlenecks and ensure customer demand is met.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, including time studies, assembly line balancing, value stream mapping, 3P for new production lines or changes, and continuous improvement in material flow, scheduling, and presentation.
- Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, applying strong project management skills to assess risk, manage dependencies, and deliver results on time.
- Serve as a change leader by collaborating with stakeholders, managing phase-in/phase-out transitions, ensuring successful implementation, and sustaining improvements through robust follow-through.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, build compelling financial business cases, and develop project plans to drive operational excellence.
About You
The company is looking for:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's engineering degree program in the United States.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
- Critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Capability to manage several tasks at once while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Collaboration skills to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate between $20 - $34, determined by qualifications, graduation year, and experience.
- Opportunity to work onsite in New Berlin, Wisconsin.
- No relocation assistance or stipend; candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius and manage their own commuting.
