Join Jacobs as a Power System Studies Intern to support system studies projects in the evolving energy industry focused on renewable integration and decarbonization.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Work closely with regional and global power systems teams to support system studies projects at various lifecycle stages, including technical bids, execution, reporting, client meetings, and close-out.
- Perform power system studies internal to the plant (load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash, harmonics) and external to the plant (interconnection compliance and NERC standards).
- Gain exposure to clients such as renewable developers, transmission owners/developers, and utilities.
- Blend theoretical knowledge with practical application in power system modeling and analysis.
About You
What you'll need:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Electrical Engineering.
- Solid foundation in power system modeling and analysis.
- Ideally, previous research or internship experience with renewable generation at an engineering firm or utility.
- Familiarity with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, or equivalents.
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $48,000 to $65,000, paid hourly based on hours worked.
- Salary determined by work location, skills, experience, and education.
