Support Air Force operations research projects, perform data analysis, and contribute to reports while developing professional skills.
Your Role:
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing a variety of tasks in support of projects assigned to higher-level analysts (GS-07).
- Conducting special research tasks to enhance knowledge of work processes and techniques, and applying fundamentals of associated disciplines.
- Identifying sources of data, performing data acquisition and reduction.
- Developing reports summarizing accomplishments and results, and presenting findings within the organization.
- Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and professional developments for application to work assignments.
- Planning work procedures for projects assigned to higher-grade analysts (GS-09).
- Performing general operations research assignments consisting of interrelated tasks or problems, screened by a higher-grade analyst.
- Assisting higher-grade analysts in finding solutions to problems requiring various data sources and operations research disciplines.
- Developing written summaries and reports for use by higher-level analysts, contractors, and/or customers.
About You:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Males must be registered for Selective Service.
- Must meet suitability for Federal employment.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in operations research or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics (at least 3 hours in calculus).
- For GS-7: Completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) or equivalent.
- For GS-9: Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree, or one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07.
- Grade Point Average of 2.95 or higher out of 4.0.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures.
- Ability to perform extensive inquiry into basic data to discover facts or relationships.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications.
- Ability to maintain current certifications and, if required, obtain a secret, top secret, or special sensitive security clearance.
- Willingness to relocate if required and serve a one-year probationary period.
- Must provide transcripts to support educational claims; foreign education must be deemed equivalent to U.S. standards.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $49,025 - $90,647 per year (varies by location).
