Amazon seeks an on-site Operations Engineering Intern in Hesperia, CA to support fulfillment system improvements and automation projects.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive resolution for an intern project by analyzing data to support process improvement recommendations
- Assist in designing, building, improving, and innovating order fulfillment infrastructure within Amazon’s North America Customer Fulfillment Project Engineering Team
- Support management, design, and implementation of medium scope integrated automation projects involving high speed sortation, conveyors, package lines, and robotic work cells
- Guide and coordinate design and execution efforts between internal teams and outside vendors, including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout
- Develop and manage budget and contract documents such as RFPs, change order controls, purchase orders, and invoicing
- Direct system commissioning and predefined testing activities, administer plans, interpret statuses, and report results
- Coordinate with local site management to ensure operator training, procedural compliance, maintenance, and safety practices for new and existing equipment
- Document and investigate fulfillment center change requests and provide recommendations
- Inspect facilities according to corporate standards related to material handling, processing, and storage
About You
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to a 12-week internship maximum
- Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Industrial, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
- Preferred experience providing technical guidance for large-scale industrial engineering projects
- Preferred experience with integrated automation solutions such as complex material handling systems, high speed packaging lines, and manufacturing lines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Excel, Project, and Outlook
- CAD skills capable of developing integrated automation layouts independently
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, transportation/logistics, and/or fulfillment/distribution centers
- Physical ability to work 12-hour shifts on feet, cover extensive distances in large warehouse facilities, use ladders, stairs, and gangways safely, lift/move totes up to 49 lbs, and perform frequent bending, stretching, and reaching motions
- Availability for weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and overtime
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting rate of $37.50 per hour, varying by market location and candidate experience
