AtkinsRéalis seeks a Nuclear Safety Analyst intern to support nuclear safety integration and analysis for the U-233 Disposition Project.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Review drafts of Work Packages, Task Orders, procedures, facility modifications, and other documents for nuclear safety integration.
- Participate in critiques and investigations involving nuclear safety issues as requested.
- Engage in Hazards Identification and Analyses activities as requested.
- Assist in revisions of the Criticality Accident Alarm System Needs Analysis as requested.
- Perform nuclear safety implementation walkdowns and surveillances of fissile material operations as requested.
- Review operational procedures and project documents to ensure compliance with nuclear safety requirements.
- Assist in preparation of Fissile Material Operation Screening documents as requested.
- Assist in preparation and peer review of nuclear safety calculations such as dispersion analyses and radiation exposure calculations as requested.
About You
The company is looking for:
- Acceptance into a Bachelor’s degree program in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering.
- Completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours toward a degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2026).
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with nuclear safety software codes (e.g., MCNP, SCALE, HotSpot, MicroShield) preferred.
- U.S. citizenship with Real ID compliant identification and ability to obtain DOE “L” Security Clearance.
- No professional registrations required.
