Join Blue Origin as a Non-Destructive Test Inspector Intern to perform critical inspections on spaceflight hardware using advanced NDT methods.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform development and production activities involving Nondestructive Testing (NDT) methods for spaceflight systems.
- Inspect flight critical metallic and composite flight hardware, Ground Support Equipment, and test samples.
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring safety and specification compliance.
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria from drawings or shop work orders.
- Document and organize inspection results accurately.
- Communicate inspection results with Engineers and Managers.
- Work within a team of NDT Specialists, Technicians, and Engineers focused on part integrity, quality, and lifespan.
- Commit to safe and repeatable spaceflight operations.
About You
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- Actively enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year institution program.
- Available to work full time without concurrent coursework.
- Meet NAS-410 Level 1 training requirements in at least two NDT methods: Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Eddy Current Testing, or Infrared Thermography.
- Meet vision requirements: Near Vision 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12”; Color Perception: minimum 12 correct on 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test.
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment per OSHA standards.
- Ability to determine optimal inspection parameters and analyze data from metallic and composite structures.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Experience with MS Office products.
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments.
- Ability to build trust, maintain professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
- U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
- Comfortable working from platforms, scissor lifts, and aerial boom lifts.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly compensation: $22.00
- Housing and relocation support provided.
- Interns responsible for daily transportation to and from work locations.
- Shifts available: Merritt Island, FL (Mon-Thu, 6:00AM–4:30PM); Huntsville, AL (Mon-Thu, 5:00AM–3:30PM).
