Mechanical Engineering Internship, Prototyping (Sep 2025)

Since 2015, 1X has developed advanced humanoid robots and seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support prototyping from September to December 2025 in Palo Alto.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• 3D-printing and assembling prototypes
• Creating models in multiple materials
• Conducting durability testing
• Collaborating with engineering and design teams to integrate new parts and resolve fit-and-function issues
• Contributing to the design and engineering of the next robot revision
• Creating and editing CAD models for printing or milling
• Documenting print settings, results, and workflows
• Maintaining print lab organization and inventory

About You

The company is looking for:

• Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering
• Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.)
• Comfortable with physical work, setup, assembly, and post-processing
• Able to work on-site in Palo Alto
• Currently studying engineering or a related field
• Nice to have: experience with robotics, mechatronics, or general hardware projects
• Ability to build and figure things out quickly is highly valued
