Join Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group as an entry-level Mechanical Engineer applying thermodynamics and power plant engineering principles.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power plant engineering
- Preparing calculations, specifications, and technical reports to support client recommendations and reviews
- Conducting equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection for project needs
- Supporting project teams with other Mechanical Engineers in system engineering, including design, modification, and analysis of power plant mechanical systems
- Potential travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs
About You
The company is looking for:
- BSME or MSME degree with strong academic background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, power engineering, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and energy conversion
- Knowledge of practical mechanical engineering applications, including systems, principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment for project design
- Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, fabrication drawings, and models
- Strong interest in numerical computations and problem solving
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. work authorization without sponsorship
- Valued but not required: ABET-accredited degree, related internship or co-op experience, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion and Engineer in Training designation, experience in mechanical engineering calculations documentation, coursework in power engineering, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and energy conversion
