Entry-level Mechanical Drafter role offering hands-on training in 3D design software within a collaborative engineering team at Sargent & Lundy.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Utilize and expand mechanical drafting skills in a multi-disciplined team environment with designers and engineers.
- Prepare design drawings based on design input.
- Apply computer-aided drafting skills using AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation.
- Receive hands-on training in 3D design software and proprietary design databases.
- Create master sketches to scale showing proposed installations relative to existing facilities with exact specifications and dimensions.
- Accompany and assist experienced designers on client facility walkdowns to gather project information.
- Interface with vendors and construction contractors to explain drawings and facilitate design adjustments.
About You
The company is looking for:
- An Associate’s Degree with an emphasis in mechanical drafting.
- Basic knowledge of standard computer drafting tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer aid.
- Ability to multi-task across multiple projects.
- Valued but not required: experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation software.
- Valued but not required: knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Valued but not required: knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, including relating equipment to technical design.

- Salary range: $45,480.00 - $65,460.00
