Mechanical Design Engineering internship at Tesla offers hands-on experience in vehicle component design, analysis, and validation across multiple engineering teams.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Work on all aspects of mechanical design including design, analysis, prototyping, and validation of Tesla vehicle components and systems
- Contribute to projects across various teams such as Chassis Engineering, Dimensional Engineering, Drive Systems, Exteriors & Interiors Design Engineering, Motor Design, New Programs Engineering, Powertrain Development, Safety & Restraints Engineering, Structures Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics, and Vehicle Integration
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, external vendors, and suppliers
- Develop creative solutions to meet quality and cost-down targets
About You
What you'll need:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software; CATIA proficiency is a plus
- Experience creating engineering drawings; GD&T experience is a plus
- Proven interest in mechanical design engineering through extracurricular activities, academic projects, or equivalent experiences; automotive or sustainability interest is a plus
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals
- Eagerness to collaborate cross-functionally and ability to work independently
- Detail-oriented and execution focused
- Genuine curiosity about product design, build, and operation
