Support construction administration and controls teams on multidisciplinary projects in a hybrid role at Arup, a global consultancy focused on sustainable built environments.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Construction Administration and Controls teams through project work including new/existing construction and pre-design support across science, healthcare, higher education, transportation, and commercial sectors.
  • Coordinating and implementing project-specific design activities such as Process and Instrumentation and Control diagram development.
  • Preparing building control diagrams for HVAC, Lighting, and Plumbing system operations.
  • Participating in meetings and collaborating with engineering teams to maintain and develop client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Supporting the Construction Administration process from a multidisciplinary standpoint, facilitating timely responses to Contractor RFIs, submittals, and inspection reports, ensuring coordination across trade partners.
  • Participating in construction site ‘all-hands’ or ‘big room’ meetings and reporting on behalf of the team when necessary.
  • Providing measurement and verification services within existing building projects and supporting commissioning teams as needed.
  • Supporting advanced controls for high-performance and LEED Certified green buildings.
  • Capturing lessons learned on projects, supporting in-house design reviews, making design improvement recommendations, and engaging with BIM processes to identify coordination and constructability opportunities.
  • Presenting lessons learned to the broader non-field based engineering team.
  • Supporting development of regional standards for construction administration best practices including digital platforms, test sheets, forms, specifications, site practices, and field reports.
  • Keeping current with relevant industry developments and technology advancements.

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field.
  • Experience or understanding of commissioning/retro-commissioning projects.
  • Experience developing and delivering business strategy and work-winning efforts.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent qualifications.
  • LEED AP credential (desired).
  • Project sector experience in higher education, science, industry, healthcare, government, or transportation.
  • Participation in ASHRAE or equivalent professional organizations.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Los Angeles base salary range: $24/hour to $43/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skill level (benefits not included).
  • San Francisco base salary range: $26.50/hour to $47.50/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skill level (benefits not included).
  • Seattle base salary range: $24/hour to $43/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skill level (benefits not included).
