Laboratory Assistant Intern - Companion Diagnostics (Jun 2026)

Join Labcorp’s Global Internship Program as a Laboratory Assistant Intern supporting companion diagnostics assay development in Morrisville, NC.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Conduct research and assist in the development, optimization, and validation of companion diagnostic assays using molecular techniques such as PCR, qPCR, and sequencing.
• Prepare biological samples, reagents, and controls while adhering to quality and regulatory standards.
• Perform laboratory experiments, troubleshoot problems, and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in regular team meetings and present data or progress reports as needed.
• Comply with lab safety protocols and support maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including scientists, quality assurance, project management, and regulatory affairs to meet project milestones.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in biology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related life science field.
• Coursework in lab-based sciences such as genetics, genomics, molecular biology, or biotechnology.
• Familiarity with pipetting, sample preparation, and standard laboratory equipment.
• Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA extraction.
• Understanding of basic laboratory safety and procedures.
• Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Skill in basic data analysis and documentation with strong recordkeeping abilities.
• Collaborative communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
