Join A.N. Publishing as a part-time, unpaid Journalism Editor Intern managing contributors and content for a digital media platform focused on people of color.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as ranking site manager under the direction of the Publisher
  • Assisting in selecting and supervising site contributors
  • Disseminating assignments aligned with the site's target demographic
  • Working with contributors to develop AP Style articles from original ideas to completion
  • Reviewing and approving content
  • Cross-checking all citations and examining references
  • Conforming to deadlines and production requirements
  • Assisting in creating and disseminating all staff-related information

About You

The company is looking for candidates who have:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with expert-level proficiency in AP Style
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of diverse international social and political landscapes
  • Proven capacity to analyze and interpret international social and political events from multiple perspectives
  • Ability to oversee development of intentional social and political news features covering international topics
  • Exceptional time management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines
  • Expert knowledge of communication and mass media principles and practices
  • Proficiency in learning and adapting to new online content media platforms
  • Previous editorial or content management experience, or demonstrated success managing a relevant site independently
  • Capability to effectively manage and lead a team of seven reporters
  • Bachelor's degree or current graduate-level studies in Journalism, English, or a related field
  • Preferred prior writing, reporting, or editing experience with academic publications or reputable outlets
