Arcadis seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Intern to support I&C, automation, and SCADA projects in water and wastewater systems.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with preparation of design and construction documents for I&C and SCADA projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Develop technical memoranda, design criteria, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Contribute to SCADA system architecture, network diagrams, and control schematics
- Support project management tasks including budgeting, cost estimating, and scheduling
- Participate in field visits to client sites and Arcadis offices
- Assist with basic testing and startup of I&C and SCADA systems
- Gain exposure to PLC and HMI configuration and programming activities
About You
What you'll need:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field
- Interest in instrumentation and controls, automation, and SCADA system design
- Basic understanding of PLC controls, SCADA systems, and industrial processes (coursework or project experience)
- Willingness to travel locally (up to 25%) and possess a valid driver’s license
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Preferred: Coursework or familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit
- Preferred: Exposure to instrumentation and controls for process and electromechanical equipment
- Preferred: Interest in IT, industrial networks, or SCADA networks
- Preferred: Familiarity with HMI/PLC platforms (academic projects or labs)
- Preferred: Previous internship or project experience in the water/wastewater industry (a plus)
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly salary range: $18.00 - $26.00, based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location
