Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Join the Human Intelligence team in the Windows Applied Sciences Group to develop multimodal face normalization and RGB+NIR recognition technologies.
- Explore techniques to transform diverse, cross-modal inputs into robust identity representations.
- Improve invariance to pose, illumination, and occlusion for secure sign-in experiences such as Windows Hello.
- Pursue compute-efficient perception methods for real-world deployment.
- Emphasize scientific rigor, reproducibility, and user-centric evaluation at production scale.
About You
The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on vision, graphics, or machine learning.

- Submission of a minimum of two reference letters, a cover letter, and relevant work or research samples is required.
- Preferred qualifications include publications in CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, SIGGRAPH, or related journals.
- Experience in face recognition/verification, multimodal learning/fusion, metric learning, representation, or generative modeling.
- Depth in multimodal normalization (pre-FR normalizers, prototype learning) and RGB↔NIR face recognition.
- Experience with vision and language models (VLMs/LLMs) for visual reasoning, explainability, or safety.
- Familiarity with scalable training (DDP/multi-node), dataset curation, reproducible MLOps, liveness/fake attack detection (FAS), and fairness/robustness evaluation.
- Proficiency in PyTorch or JAX with the ability to implement or reproduce state-of-the-art methods.
