Join Tesla as a Hardware Design Engineering Intern contributing to Autopilot silicon development and validation across multiple teams.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Contribute to SOC and IP implementation from synthesis through tapeout with the Autopilot Physical Design team using EDA tools and scripting (TCL, Perl, Python).
- Work on high-speed serial interface signal integrity, memory SI/PI, and power integrity for automotive electronic systems with the Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SIPI) team.
- Validate Pre and Post Silicon phases of Autopilot Silicon and System, including SoC, PCBA, Firmware, and Platform, collaborating with Firmware and Application Software teams.
- Design and productize silicon chips, ASICs, and systems for Tesla Autopilot, including schematic entry, simulation, firmware, and software driver development with the Autopilot Silicon and System Design team.
- Engage in PCB manufacturing technologies, DFM, and vendor collaboration for PCB fabrication and assembly.
About You
The company is looking for:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of PCB manufacturing technologies and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Understanding of system-level low power and high-power design with power modeling and analysis skills.
- Familiarity with embedded board bring-up.
- Strong proficiency in C, C++, Python, and/or Linux OS scripting.
- Understanding of real-time operating system (RTOS) fundamentals.
- Experience in design, verification, validation, system/platform level debugging, root cause isolation, and relevant methodologies and tools.

How to Apply
Applicants must be actively enrolled in an academic program and able to commit to a minimum of 12 weeks full-time on-site starting around January 2026 through May 2026, with possible extension into Summer 2026.
