Join Arup as a Graduate Mechanical, Plumbing, and Public Health Engineer to prepare system designs, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to sustainable built environments.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Prepare drawings detailing designed systems and perform system design calculations
  • Conduct system load calculations to establish equipment size
  • Write reports summarizing calculation methodologies
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish needs and discuss design issues
  • Collaborate and coordinate with engineers from other disciplines, companies, and external consultants
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in building projects
  • Select equipment for building systems
  • Perform construction administration including site visits and submittal reviews
  • Assist and perform calculations for design-specific piping systems across various projects

About You

The company is looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Sanitary, Environmental, or Architectural Engineering
  • Coursework in fluid hydraulics, piping, or fluid dynamics
  • Proven interest in the built environment
  • Ability to interface with clients effectively
  • Good time management, multitasking, and sustained focus on long tasks
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical ideas accessibly
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and creativity
  • Effective prioritization and exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based work
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients at all levels
  • EIT/FE certification preferred
  • Membership in ASPE, ASHRAE, or NFPA preferred
  • Courses in sustainability or USGBC participation preferred
  • AutoCAD or Revit drafting skills preferred
  • Internship experience in an engineering-related firm preferred
  • Evidence of past internship or extracurricular activity in the field preferred
  • Proven ability to perform in a paid work environment with intermittent supervision preferred
  • Past history of technical presentations and technical writing preferred
  • Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field preferred
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future

Compensation & Benefits

  • Seattle hiring range: $74,000 to $81,500 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skill level
