Environmental Health & Safety Intern role supporting compliance and risk management at L3Harris Technologies in Melbourne, FL.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Participate in development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental Health and Safety Management System meeting internal and external standards
- Develop and deploy programs to prevent and control environmental risks, including compliance with air permits, construction permits, waste management, wastewater operations, release notifications, and environmental reporting
- Conduct site-wide environmental, health, and safety audits; analyze results, recommend corrective actions, communicate findings, and follow up to resolution
- Ensure prompt reporting of all environmental, health, and safety incidents
- Review and approve operations/facilities projects involving modifications or new processes, equipment, or materials to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits
- Lead site air permit compliance program including record collection, inspection oversight, reporting, deviation and change management, and employee training
- Manage site wastewater operations, maintain compliance records, complete reporting, and submit required forms to Municipal and/or State agencies timely
About You
The company is looking for:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Science, Chemical, or Engineering field with anticipated graduation Spring/Summer 2026 or completed within last 12 months
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Preferred experience preparing Tier II and TRI/Form R reports, NPDES wastewater and storm water reports, and hazardous/residual waste reports
- Certifications such as FE, CHMM, and/or ASP/CSP are a plus
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain flexibility, and work independently
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products
