Environment, Health & Safety Intern (Mar 2026)

L3Harris is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Intern to support compliance, audits, and environmental risk management at their Clifton, NJ location.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting development, implementation, and maintenance of an Environmental Health and Safety Management System aligned with standards and requirements
• Developing and deploying programs to prevent and control environmental risks, including compliance with air permits, construction permits, waste management, wastewater operations, release notifications, and environmental reporting
• Conducting site-wide environmental, health, and safety audits; analyzing results; recommending corrective actions; communicating findings; and following up on issues
• Ensuring prompt reporting of all environmental, health, and safety incidents
• Reviewing and approving operations/facilities projects involving modifications or new processes, equipment, or materials to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits
• Leading site air permit compliance program, including record collection, inspection oversight, reporting, deviation and change management, and employee training
• Managing site wastewater operations, maintaining compliance records, completing reporting, and submitting required forms to municipal and state agencies

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Science, Chemical, or Engineering field with anticipated graduation in Spring/Summer 2026, or completed degree within the last 12 months
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Preferred experience preparing Tier II and TRI/Form R reports, NPDES wastewater and storm water reports, and hazardous/residual waste reports
• FE, CHMM, and/or ASP/CSP certifications are a plus
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain flexibility, and work independently
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range varies by location: $25.00 to $47.50 per hour in CA, MA, NJ, WA, Greater D.C., Denver, NYC areas; $22.00 to $40.50 per hour in CO, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY state, Cleveland OH, VT
