Join Sargent & Lundy as an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to apply structural analysis and design skills in energy and industrial projects.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
- Working as part of an engineering and design team on power, energy, and industrial projects.
- Creating calculations to develop structural document designs and preparing technical specifications.
- Conducting structural analyses including complex loading conditions such as wind, seismic, and pressurization.
- Performing structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using advanced computer tools.
- Potential travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for structural condition assessments, construction coordination, and field verification of designs.
- Working on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office presence 3 days per week.
About You
The company is looking for candidates with:
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering with graduation in spring 2026.
- Strong academic background and interest in behavior of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
- Knowledge of practical structural engineering applications including load analysis and design integrity.
- Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.
Valued but not required:
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and Engineer in Training designation.
- Degree from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
- Experience writing and supporting Structural Engineering calculations.
- Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
- Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
- Related engineering internship or co-op experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $60,660.00 - $87,090.00.
