Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer needed for Dewberry’s Bloomfield, NJ office to support foundation design and fieldwork in the NJ/NY/PA area.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

  • Perform field inspection of subsurface exploration programs, including boring/test pits, pavement cores, and geophysical testing
  • Classify soil and rock usingthe  Burmister and USCS soil classification systems
  • Prepare boring logs, subsurface profiles, and geotechnical laboratory testing programs
  • Design and analyze shallow and deep foundation systems, support of excavation systems, and perform bearing, settlement, and stability analyses for foundations and slopes
  • Observe construction activities, including foundation testing, pile driving, and general contractor supervision
  • Perform geotechnical field reconnaissance, prepare and administer boring contracts, perform geotechnical calculations, and provide construction support services
  • Collaborate with multiple company offices in the northeast regional area
  • Driving is required with a clean driving record

About You

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • EIT certificate or commitment to obtain within one year
  • Working towards or commitment to obtain a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with Geotechnical emphasis within five years
  • 0-2 years of diverse civil and geotechnical engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Bluebeam
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Dewberry does not sponsor new applicants for work authorization

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $79,200 - $81,700 annually, depending on skills, experience, location, and market conditions
