Engineering Traffic Analyst Intern role supporting traffic system performance and safety at AtkinsRéalis in Edison, NJ.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the development and implementation of technologies and strategies to enhance traffic signal system performance and road user safety.
- Conduct research, data collection, and analysis related to traffic flow and mobility patterns using travel demand modeling and GIS.
- Prepare reports, forecasts, and technical documents to support transportation studies and project decision-making.
- Assist in developing dashboards, databases, and other reporting tools.
- Leverage AI, machine learning, and workflow automation to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
- Collaborate with government agencies, communities, and private sector clients to address diverse population needs.
- Analyze traffic operations, congestion management, and safety improvement measures, providing practical recommendations.
- Work with environmental specialists, urban planners, and other professionals to integrate transportation with land use and environmental planning.
About You
What you'll need:
- Completed 60 credit hours towards a BS or MS in civil engineering or data analysis from an ABET-accredited program by Summer 2026.
- No prior experience required if enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
- Proficiency with PowerBI, VISSIM, Synchro, GIS, and/or Auto-CAD.
- Professional registration as E.I. or E.I.T. preferred.
