The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States and its principal federal law enforcement agency. Your Role
Serves as an Electronics Technician (ET) in a leadership role in developing, training, implementing, testing, evaluating, installing, and maintaining the Bureau’s complex terrestrial and extra-terrestrial satellite communications/network equipment.
Performs duties at a high level in telecommunications systems, data networks, wireless systems, radio, microwave, VSAT, etc.
Provides programmatic and technical direction to include research and development efforts, operations and maintenance, test and evaluation, and supporting equipment deployed in the field.
Provides technical support through direct interaction with Unit Chiefs, Chief Security Officers, Technical Managers, Special Agents, Intelligence Analysts, Information Technology Specialists, and Electronics Technicians (moderate travel required).
Develops and implements training curricula using adult learning techniques and principles while relying on advanced personal subject matter expertise of specialized communications equipment used during crisis situations and significant events. Develop lesson plans and other instructional materials, including job-related exercises and different evaluative testing methodologies.

About You
GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level.
Experience in the operation and programming of Type 1 encryption; VSAT installation (both mobile and fixed); electronic communications systems such as wireless networks; local area networks; wide area networks; VOIP; VHF and UHF radios.
Experience in the deployment and set up of mobile command post vehicles and fixed facility command post operations.
Experience developing and providing training to others (Electronic Technicians and Special Agents) with the FBI.
Experience planning, designing, and completing projects independently, coordinating with other technicians or outside agency personnel. Work needs to be technically authoritative and conclusions or recommendations accepted without significant modifications.
Experience developing techniques, procedures, and ideas to improve the efficiency of current workflows.
Cooperatively and independently seeks out solutions to current and perceived future issues that will affect the Bureau.
