Join Tesla as an Electrical Test Engineer Intern to design and build test equipment, automate testing, and validate hardware for sustainable energy solutions.
Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Design and build custom test equipment such as test PCBAs, harnesses, and overall system design to make validation efficient, modular, and repeatable
- Manage projects from initial concept through design, assembly, and final commissioning
- Write and maintain test software to automate test execution, data collection, and analysis
- Develop and maintain validation schedules to coordinate test resources and communicate status to program managers
- Work across teams including Low Voltage Component Validation, High Voltage Component Validation, Drive Inverter Test Engineering, ADAS Test Engineering, Capability Development, Design for Reliability, Firmware Testing, Instrumentation and Imaging, and Power Electronics Manufacturing Test Engineering
About You
The company is looking for:
- Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven technical experience through extracurricular activities, academic projects, passion projects, or equivalent experiences
- Excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals with experience using power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, probing PCBAs, and reading schematics
- Eagerness to collaborate cross-functionally while able to work independently to drive large projects forward and overcome blockers; detail-oriented and execution focused
- Genuine curiosity to troubleshoot root causes of issues
- Hands-on approach with a focus on automating repeatable tasks for efficiency
- Preferred qualifications include coding experience (preferably Python), CAD software design experience (CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, Altium, Eagle), knowledge of sensors, and interest in electric vehicles or sustainable energy

Training & Development
The Internship Recruiting Team provides a year-round program placing students in positions to grow technically, professionally, and personally through close work with Managers, Mentors, and teams, including involvement in critical projects.
How to Apply
Applicants must be actively enrolled in an academic program and able to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site for a minimum of 12 weeks starting around May or June 2026 through the Summer term, with possible extension into Fall 2026.
