Electrical Engineering Internship, Prototyping (Sep 2025)

Join 1X as an Electrical Engineering Intern, Prototyping, supporting hardware development for advanced humanoid robots in a hands-on, in-person role.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• PCB re-work and custom PCB assembly
• Prototype and fine-pitch solder
• Perform functional testing
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to integrate new parts and resolve fit-and-function issues
• Contribute to the design and engineering of the next robot revision—work is production-critical
• Create and edit CAD models for printing or milling
• Document print settings, results, and workflows
• Maintain print lab organization and inventory

About You

The company is looking for:

• Hands-on experience in electrical engineering
• Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.)
• Comfortable doing physical work including setup, assembly, and post-processing
• Able to work on-site in Palo Alto
• Currently studying engineering or a related field
• Nice to have: experience with robotics, mechatronics, or general hardware projects
• Ability to build and figure things out quickly valued over checking every box
