Electrical Engineer Intern - Grid - Chicago, IL (May 2026)

Electrical Engineering Intern to support Grid business unit projects involving power system design and engineering under senior engineers' guidance.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Assist engineering team members in project execution within the Grid business unit.
• Work on design, modifications, and upgrades for transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage system projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Track and evaluate project activities, progress, and associated data for reporting purposes.
• Participate in power designs and prepare specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and installation services.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Expected graduation in Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027, or Spring 2028 with a BSEE or MSEE degree focused on electrical power.
• Strong academic background and coursework in electrical power.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.
• Preferred but not required: degree from ABET-accredited program, leadership experience, minimum 3.0 GPA, prior related internship or co-op experience.
• No U.S. work authorization sponsorship provided.

• Hourly rate: $17.50 - $27.00
