The Electrical Engineer role at CDM Smith in Boston involves designing and analyzing electrical systems under direct supervision.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Create basic designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and similar electrical systems.
- Perform studies and electrical calculations for power systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security, and related calculations.
- Assist with selection and specification of electrical components such as motor control centers, switchgears, transformers.
- Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
- Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
- Update design requirements as necessary.
- Contribute to the firm's technical knowledge management by developing white papers and technical design documentation.
- Submit technical papers and designs for publication in technical journals.
- May create or collaborate on posters or presentation materials for conferences.
About You
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related discipline.
- 0 years of experience (entry-level).
- Basic knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Basic knowledge of engineering principles of design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Domestic and/or international travel up to 10% may be required.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Visa sponsorship not available (no H-1B or TN Visas supported).
Compensation
- Salary range: $69,243 to $114,234.
