About Vogue

Vogue is an American monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine that covers many topics, including haute couture fashion, beauty, culture, living, and runway. Based at One World Trade Center in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, Vogue began as a weekly newspaper in 1892 before becoming a monthly magazine years later. Since its founding, Vogue has featured numerous actors, musicians, models, athletes, and other prominent celebrities.

Your Role

  • Assist editorial staff with a wide array of day-to-day tasks including building articles and galleries in the CMS.
  • Proactively pitch story ideas that fit into each of the content verticals.
  • Be open to assignments that range from trending news pieces and SEO galleries to short interviews, features, and captions.
  • Build shopping products for use in commerce stories.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, including editorial brainstorms.
  • Assist with production needs for photo shoots.
  • Assist with sourcing stories and other types of research.
  • Assist senior staff on select special projects, packages, and tentpole editorial events.

Training & Development

In 2014, the company launched Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME), a hands-on, internal training program. The free, year-long vocational training school is designed to impart luxury-specific qualifications for jobs across LVMH’s 70 brands to the next generation of talent, according to Chantal Gaemperle, group executive vice president of human resources and synergies at LVMH. To date, the program has trained over 800 apprentices; the group inducted a new class of 300 trainees in October, 10 times more than it trained in its first iteration.

Career Progression

Vogue’s hiring process is handled entirely by its parent company, Condé Nast. It’s possible to get an internship at Vogue as a college or university student, although openings are not always available every year. When it does, most of the positions are for the content and editorial team, and the duration of the internship is usually around six months time.

Work-Life Balance

Achieving better harmony between personal and professional life seems to be everyone’s priority. Also in the fashion industry, where burnout has often been the price to pay to have a creative career. Vogue wants its employees to love where they work. To create this positive environment, they uphold a culture that strives to improve work-life integration and the well-being of its employees.

Culture & Vibe

The working culture in Vogue is a marriage between two of the most intense and fast-paced industries—fashion and media. One thing that many of its employees agree on, past and current, is that working in Vogue is never boring, since you may do many different things each day, and deal with different people.

About You

  • Be enthusiastic about learning various facets of the business.
  • Be open to feedback and use it to your advantage.
  • Have a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset.
