Join Labcorp as a Technologist Trainee in Shelton, CT, performing clinical lab procedures in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform technical grossing procedures to process and submit specimens for microscopic review under pathologist supervision
- Operate and maintain automated tissue processors, tissue embedding units, Cryostat sectioning, H&E stainers, IHC stainers, special stains stainers, and cover slipping units
- Perform manual cover slipping and recut preparation for microtomy
- Organize slides and compile cases for pathology review
- Complete quality control on cases
- Scan cases out of the lab to pathology and maintain logbooks
- Locate and pull specimens from various departments, paraffin block filing, and lab document archiving
- Prepare and discard chemical reagents such as reagent alcohols
- Perform safety checks in the lab and handle chemicals including Xylene, Alcohols, Formaldehyde
- Handle minute patient tissue samples
About You
The company is looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
- Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
- High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
