Join McKinsey's Chemicals Insights team in Houston to tackle complex challenges and drive industry transformation.

Your Role:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations.
  • Working in teams of 3-5 consultants on client engagements, including strategy, operations, and due diligence.
  • Conducting market assessments and reformulating sustainability roadmaps.
  • Contributing to McKinsey’s industry knowledge and developing proprietary models and analyses.
  • Spending ~50% of time on client engagements and ~50% on internal tools and knowledge development.

About You:

Candidates should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in chemical engineering or other related technical fields such as chemistry, petroleum engineering, material science, environmental science/engineering, biochemistry, or packaging engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience in the chemicals industry, including internships or co-ops is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in modeling tools like Python, R, Alteryx, Tableau, Excel.
  • Outstanding academic or career development.
  • Experience in strategic projects, change management, or operational improvement is a plus.
  • Strong business and microeconomics knowledge.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The estimated salary range is $92,000 - $95,000 USD.
