CEI Transportation Engineering Intern (Jun 2026)

Join CDM Smith as a Transportation Engineering Intern supporting construction inspection and project documentation in Knoxville, TN.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting construction inspection for roadway, bridge, and utility projects.
• Performing field measurements, material sampling, and documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Assisting engineers with plan reviews, contractor submittals, and project documentation.
• Learning CDM Smith’s standards and best practices for quality assurance and project delivery.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering degree.
• An appropriate and valid driver's license.
• Strong interest in transportation and construction engineering.
• Ability to work outdoors and adapt to field conditions.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office; experience with CAD or inspection software is a plus.
