Join Blue Origin as an Avionics Software Engineer contributing to safe, reusable spaceflight systems in a collaborative, innovative environment.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications focused on avionics and flight systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, verify, and validate safety-critical, real-time embedded software for launch vehicle systems.
- Participate in the full software lifecycle: requirements analysis, implementation, verification, documentation, and system integration.
- Write and review code primarily in C, C++, and Python for embedded and application environments.
- Create and maintain tools and infrastructure to support efficient build, debugging, testing, deployment, and automation.
- Ensure reliability, quality, and safety in all delivered software.
- Review and update software requirements and designs for testability and verifiability.
- Work across Blue Origin business units and locations including Kent, WA; Huntsville, AL; and Denver, CO.
About You
The company is looking for candidates with:
- Ability to start full-time work by the end of 2025.
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, or related field earned within the last year or by Fall 2025.
- Programming experience in at least one of C, C++, or Python.
- Experience in software development, problem solving, and debugging through coursework, co-ops, internships, or projects.
- Exposure to software verification, test planning/execution, or automated testing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on rapid development programs.
- Relevant internship/co-op and academic project experience demonstrating technical skills and leadership qualities.
- Self-driven with minimal direction and strong communication skills.
- Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
Desired qualifications include advanced degrees, experience with real-time embedded or safety-critical software, knowledge of hardware interfaces and protocols, DevOps and CI/CD experience, and participation in academic competitions or research projects.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range for Colorado applicants: $101,405.00 - $141,966.30
- Salary range for Washington applicants: $110,623.00 - $154,871.85
